Almost everyone has experienced a nightmare that was so disturbing that it prevented them from going back to sleep. Some people, on the other hand, may have experienced more terrifying experiences in real life than nightmares. Some cases leave one wondering what is actually true, while others have reasonable explanations. Here, some brave people have posted their own stories online that are sure to chill you to the core.

When I was in my twenties, I went on a date with a beautiful girl who had long, dark black hair. We went to dinner and to the movies and I drove my own vehicle. When we drove back to her place, we talked for hours. After we talked for almost two hours, I started to get chills and the hairs on my neck stood up.

I turned to look at her and suddenly she had wrinkles on her face and gray hair. When she asked what happened, I freaked out and ran out of the car. I had no idea how to respond other than to say that she seemed to age overnight. She burst out laughing and slowly changed back into her youthful appearance.

She then told me that I saw her grandmother making sure she was okay.

My parents bought a house when I was six years old. It was a new house in a recently built neighborhood.

I used to adore the room my mom and grandma fixed up for me, but that all changed when I started seeing the shadows of strangers walking past my window and then entering my room at night. All I could see was their heads bobbing up and down, pointing and laughing.

They were wearing really outdated clothes. They would eventually disappear.

However, this continued every night.

I once got something in my leg while I was playing and jumping off the chair. After much suffering, the emergency room staff my mother took me to pull out a really old sewing needle. My leg was wrapped so I couldn’t walk.

As I sat in bed that night waiting for visitors to arrive, I noticed ghostly green snakes crawling all over my bed and all over me. I tried to stay still as I lay there, but one of the snakes bit me after tripping a nerve in my hand. The area was sore the next day.

After leaving home permanently, I moved back in with my dad.

This happened when I was a teenager.

The fan only worked in the room where we all slept. I woke up in the middle of the night to see someone sitting on a chair in the corner of the room. I went back to sleep believing I was dreaming. My brother then informed me that he dreamed of someone sitting in that chair the next morning while we were brushing our teeth. Although I was terrified, I kept from him what I had witnessed. I didn’t want to scare him.

My friends from college and I went for a bike ride to a place full of forests.

His roommate was driving and my friend was sitting behind me. The only people on the road stayed behind while others went forward. One tree in particular caught my friend’s attention as he watched them. Since trees usually seem to go backward, this was very rare. However, he was sure that this tree was following them.

He didn’t say anything because he didn’t want his husband to get upset. Eventually, they noticed the other friends waiting for them to join them on the road. He later reported what he saw to his partner. His companion said he also noticed the tree as he froze and looked back at it. They were both scared.

Grandma died. We were accommodated there. It was my uncle’s old bedroom and I slept alone. I used my phone to play games until I got sleepy. I woke up at three in the morning. I reach the restroom, which is down a dim hallway that leads to the garage, past the dining room, the kitchen, Grandpa’s former study, and the spacious family and TV room. Currently empty, the old maid’s chamber is located outside the garage door. I hear the hum as I go about my work. from the old maid’s apartment. It had a vaguely familiar sound.

I hastily finished my work and went to my room because I was scared. But as the hum grew louder, something stopped me. It doesn’t come from the maid’s room. No, the TV room was the source of it. It was actually… Grandma! When she turned to face the guest room, she was gone.

When I was eight years old, my mother and I shared a bed. I crept into her bed that night and didn’t wake up until the next morning.

One night I had a dream about my grandfather who died about twenty years ago. Every time we entered his house, he urged me, “We have to clean the house, we have to prepare the house.” All he said when I asked why was, “She’s coming home.”

The next day, his wife of 50 years, my grandmother, died.

I had a strange feeling when I woke up and noticed the opaque silhouette of a small boy coming towards me from the other side of the apartment. When I turned on the light it was gone, but when I turned it off it reappeared.

I turned the light back on and continued to see if something was the source of the strange shadow, etc. It couldn’t be a shadow because it was in the way between my couch and the wall where nothing could have formed such a precise shape.

After turning them off again, I turned the light back on when I found it there and slept with it on for the rest of the night. I couldn’t sleep for days without the light on, haha.

My mother used to tell me a bedtime story about a ghost when I was little. “Mother, what is a ghost?” I asked. She replied, “A spirit can take the form of anyone: me, you, or anyone.” After thirty minutes there was a knock on the door. “Are you going to see who it is?” my mother asked. “Mom, I’m scared. What if it’s a ghost?” I said. “It’s okay,” the mother replied with a smile before walking to the door, opening it and coming back.” When I asked who it was, she angrily replied, “Why didn’t you open the door? I’ve been bumping into this for a long time. By the way, who were you talking to inside?

It dumbed me down.

Late one night I was reading in bed.

My husband was sound asleep next to me.

My left side was at arm’s length from my open bedroom window. The curtain moved violently, but not the way a breeze would. I put the book down and lay still, watching the curtain drawback. A man’s head and shoulders appeared. Frightened, I jumped out of bed and asked, “What do you want?” In response, he said he went to look for food. He should wait there, I said, because I’ll get him some. I went to the kitchen and got something to eat like crazy.

Apparently, he was gone from the scene when I returned. Reality hadn’t sunk in until then. It was a thief trying to break into our house.

My husband slept the whole time.

I’m a night security guard in a small office at a sanitation plant. There was only one entrance to the building and you had to check in at the security station to enter or exit.

After check-in, a worker comes and says he has some things he needs to take care of. Then I verify his ID, turn on a few lights for him, and continue working.

When my shift ends in a few hours, the guy still hasn’t returned.

I looked for him in the building but was unable to find him. Not only are there no other lights on, but he’s not in any of the rooms I’ve turned on for him.

He tries to leave but no one is there when I stop by security to check if we just missed each other. After the second inspection, I found no signs. At this point, I examined the cameras to see where he went, but he was only visible on the ones covering the entrance and the security station. He turns down the hall, but the next camera on that path never sees him. At this point, I recorded it as an incident and left as soon as the relief shift arrived.

My supervisor called me the next day to let me know that the employee was out of state on vacation for a few days and wouldn’t be back for a few days. There was no one who could explain what had happened.

While I was waiting for my child’s bus, I cleaned the kitchen. I watched him arrive and watched him exit. Although he didn’t come in, I assumed he was playing, hiding behind the window, and then jumping out to yell “be” at me. But he wasn’t there when I left. I thought he was hiding from me so I called his name and searched the house but was unable to find him. Parental dread hit as I called him as I circled the house. It seemed to take much longer than the probable ninety seconds. He then boarded the bus and got off.
