The stories you will read have a great impact on the people who tell them and leave a lasting impression.
When I was younger, I would spend the night at my friend’s house and play video games.
We decided to bring some cookies for a late-night snack and on the way down we noticed his mother and another man kissing (not sure if they got to the second point) on the couch in the living room.
He sobbed and declared, “You’re not my dad.” Unfortunately, he had to move out with his father so that was the last time I spoke to him. © Reddit / JimPadawan
One line from my ex-boyfriend’s diary was read by mistake. When I picked it up, it fell off the shelf while he was in the shower and it said something like, “…she really helped me cope with my mom’s cancer diagnosis; she’s an angel.”
I thought it was sweet at the time.
I went to pay for the ticket I got for driving without headlights. When I walked into the quiet office in the courthouse where I was supposed to be, I saw the sheriff rubbing the judge’s back and shoulders through the glass. When I knocked on the window, they both turned pale. Without further ado, the sheriff stopped and walked into another room. I got the strangest look from the mayor who added, “I guess Christmas came early for you.” She gave me the canceled ticket and stamped the receipt. When I was eleven years old, I walked into my cousin’s bedroom and saw her talking to his grandmother and her imaginary companion. She lived alone with her parents in the house as an only child. I was scared even though I didn’t know who he was talking to. No matter how much she wanted me to play with her friends, I never entered her room again.
The business is owned by the married couple I work for. My husband kept logging into the wrong account for an unrelated program, so I was helping him with a saved password problem. This allowed me to view all of his saved scam dating site logins. After I was done, I closed all open apps, handed him his phone back, and said nothing more.
A friend of mine was employed by his father who ran the family piano business. When I came across the pricing documents, I noticed how much they had spent on the pianos and what their dealer was suggesting they sell them for. Of course, there is a markup, but I imagined it would only be twice as much.
No, the markup is usually four to five times higher.
People play pianos because they are used to them being expensive. It naturally increases with “quality”. If memory serves, they paid about $8,000 for that wing, which costs as much as a Mercedes. © Reddit / CivilCJ
My ex-boyfriend accidentally bookmarked an engagement ring website while trying to show me something on the internet.
Even though it was a little early, I thought it was nice that he was shy. We broke up a few months ago. It broke my heart because it was my first love.

On Christmas Day in kindergarten, I watched my parents carry all the presents around my room to the tree. “These are just the ones from us; Santa will come later,” was something they could have said, but refrained from saying. I therefore lost my baby Jesus at a very young age. I put up with my younger sister for four years to spare her disappointment.
My uncle’s wife decided to show their wedding video to 25 guests shortly after dinner at our reunion at their house for their anniversary weekend. We started watching after she called us all into the back room and started the tape. Halfway through her walk down the aisle, the footage suddenly blurred. The wedding video cuts to Dale Earnhardt’s funeral and everyone freezes in horror. Uncle Joe recorded Dale Earnhardt’s funeral on that tape. It was real life, but I was the only one who burst out laughing and thought I was on a sitcom. © Reddit / homanisto
I think I was 7 years old. I lost a tooth that I put under my pillow in honor of the tooth fairy. I woke up in the middle of the night to see this shadowy figure, eerily reminiscent of the Grinch, creeping into my bedroom. I screamed and a dark figure flew out of my room. A few days later, Dad acknowledged it was him, but I didn’t sleep at all for a few days.
Since my phone was dead, Dad offered me his to order something. When I google things, the first thing that comes up is “how to tell your child that someone close to you is dying”. For years I was in denial that my mother’s illness could get worse, but this finally crushed me.
As children, my brother and I were naturally curious.
One day he dragged me into our spare bathroom, excited to discover a “huge surprise” in the wastebasket next to the toilet. Inside the dumpster was a bag of tortilla chips with a bunch of rolled-up stuff. When we opened it, we assumed that the surprise toys – like Kinder Surprise – were accidentally left inside the bag. Oh no, those were my mother’s old pads.
