A six-year-old girl tragically lost her life in a freak accident while watching her family play badminton on holiday. The heartbreaking incident happened in Limerick, Maine, and left the family devastated. Sending prayers to them in this unimaginable time.

Lucy Morgan, the young victim, died after a badminton racket snapped during a downward swing, causing a piece of metal to break off the handle and pierce her skull. Despite immediate medical attention, her injuries were too serious.

Lucy’s father, Pastor Jesse Morgan, shared on his blog that she was unresponsive but still breathing when the accident happened. She was taken to a local hospital before being airlifted to Maine Medical Center in Portland.

“Upon arrival,l she was taken straight to the operating theater where part of her skull was removed to relieve pressure and address the injury. She coded but was resuscitated and they completed the surgery,” Jesse wrote. “At the PICU, the doctors told us that there was very little chance that he would recover.

Jesse also revealed the touching moment just a month before the tragedy, when Lucy asked her mother for a rescue. After a short conversation, Lucy prayed in her room, asking God for forgiveness and expressing her faith in Jesus’ death and resurrection. “What a gift,” Jesse wrote.

In updates on his blog, Jesse described Lucy’s deteriorating condition. “The significant lack of brain function over the last 48 hours shows the devastating reality we face. She has not felt any pain for the past few days, which is a small consolation,” he wrote.

“We are calling out to God for a miracle and exploring all possible options, but Lucy is showing all the signs of brain death.” There’s a good chance it will pass within 24 hours.”

Unfortunately, despite all the efforts of the medical staff, Lucy succumbed to her injuries.

“No blog post today.” Lucy Lynn Morgan died around 4:00 this morning and is now seeing Jesus face to face,” Jesse wrote after she died. “This photo is from our earlier goodbye.

A GoFundMe campaign was created by family friend Jill Anthony to support the Morgans. Originally set at $100,000, the fundraiser surpassed its goal, raising over $140,000 and approaching a new goal of $150,000.

“This page provides financial support to the Morgans – including food, lodging, medical expenses, and other necessities,” Anthony wrote. She later updated the page to say, “5.
