The story of Korben and his stunning red prom skirt at the prom quickly spread on social media, garnering widespread support and praise for his courage and self-expression.
One young man sparked a debate on Twitter when he revealed that he had turned up to his prom in a sparkly tuxedo jacket and bright red skirt.
Korben, 16, became a social media sensation over the weekend after his mother, Nina Green, shared pictures of him wearing the stunning outfit to show her support.
At Archbishop Sancroft High School in Harleston, Norfolk, the pupil was loudly applauded as he left the building in a billowing prom skirt and dazzling jacket.
When her son was 12, Nina said in her photos, he told her he wanted to wear a dress to the prom. It succeeded four years later.
She is so proud of him for being honest with himself and for the wonderful reception he has received from the whole school.
RuPaul’s Drag Race judge Michelle Visage was also tagged in the tweet. Your baby is a STAR and you are an amazing, amazing mother.
At age 12 my son announced he wanted to go to his school #prom in a gown. Four years later we made it happen. I’m so incredibly #proud of him for being true to himself & the reception he got from his whole school was incredible. What do you think @michellevisage @theebillyporter pic.twitter.com/lsLKnmY9k5

Many people immediately agreed with Michelle and praised Korben’s fashionable attire.
One Twitter user wrote: “He looks amazing, his outfit is amazing and I adore his crown. I hope he had a great prom.”
Another person commented: “I have to say your son looks very handsome in that crimson dress and crown of glory. I’ve never seen a prom outfit like this.”
“Happiness is what life should be about. being content. making dreams come true. The best way to live is to be true to yourself. These are happy pictures,” added a third person.
The post has been shared more than 3,000 times, many by celebrities, and has garnered 119,400 likes on social media.
Later, Ms. Green tweeted about the reaction she received, calling it simply amazing. When she uploaded pictures of her son being honest with himself, she never expected to get the response she did.
The few negative comments they chose to ignore were largely overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support. She lets him live his life because it’s his to live.
She added that everyone just clapped when he got out of the car and started crying along with the other teachers who were also crying.
The next day, while the 16-year-old was enjoying Pride in London, a fan approached him and asked: “Are you the boy in the red dress? I think you’re amazing.”
Ms. Green recalled her child’s preference for dressing up. From a young age, he performed as the “sassy” drag queen Miss Frou Frou.
Wow! When I posted images of my son being true to himself I never expected it to get the response it has. The support & positivity has been overwhelming & have totally drowned out the few negative ones which we take no notice of. It’s his life & I’m letting him live it ♥️ pic.twitter.com/1gq1VKygwx

According to Ms. Green, he wanted to attend as himself while also showing his feminine side by wearing a tuxedo on top and a dress underneath, heavily inspired by [American actor] Billy Porter. He wanted to appear as Korben in a dress.
Korben’s prom outfit wasn’t just about fashion; it was a message of acceptance and self-expression. It was a reminder that people should be allowed to express themselves in any way they choose, regardless of gender norms or societal expectations. Korben’s bravery and individuality serve as an inspiration for others to be true to themselves and live their lives authentically.
In a world where conformity is often praised and individuality is discouraged, Korben’s message is more important than ever. His courage to speak out and his unwavering determination to be true to himself are qualities that everyone should celebrate and support. Korben’s story is a testament to the power of self-expression and the importance of acceptance and inclusivity.
He looked amazing and so happy! I applaud his courage and strength and am so glad that you have shared pictures of him. Your support of your son is amazing!!! I hope he had a great time at Prom.
