 It took place in Australia. Mason’s partner Mai recently posted a video of him unwrapping bananas and weighing them at a self-service checkout to secure a discounted price on social media.
The caption Mai added to the photo, “Although it’s embarrassing second hand,” makes it clear that she doesn’t agree with her partner’s attitude.
Mason’s method of managing money received a number of reactions in the comments. While one viewer agreed with him, going so far as to suggest that “real frugal people weigh them without a bag”, another suggested the effort was not worth the money saved. All this for a savings of 25 cents, they said.
On the way home from the grocery store, we can only speculate about what might happen to those fruits. Each banana receives some protection from its skin, despite its less-than-average shelf life. It is therefore debatable whether this method is worthwhile considering the dangers involved.
