The birth of Catalina and Virginia came as a surprise to their parents, Jorge and his wife, who was thrilled to find out they were having twins. However, the surprise turned to shock when the twins arrived with snow-white hair.
Every expectant couple experiences intense joy and worries when expecting the birth of their child. That’s why finding out you’re expecting twins is both exciting and stressful.
One couple’s shock at conceiving twins was compounded when they saw their two snow-white babies for the first time.
Although it can be dangerous to carry and deliver more than one or two babies, Ms. Gomez’s pregnancy was fairly typical.
Throughout, the Gomez family was excited and eager to meet their two new daughters. The usual preparations took place, including setting aside a suitable space for their impending bundles of joy.
However, there was something they hadn’t counted on. The extra-ordinary twins were born 36 weeks early at a hospital in the Argentine state of Tucuman.
Despite this, the two little fighters, Catalina and Virginia, were in good shape. Catalina, which weighed 5.95 pounds, was the first. Virginia arrived two minutes later and weighed 5.5 pounds.
Their healthy weight was far from the biggest surprise, although it was unexpected. Both Catalina and Virginia, who had snow-white hair, came out and neither looked like their parents.
The young girls were found to have albinism, a rare hereditary condition that results in colorless skin. For example, only one in 17,000 children in the United States is born with albinism. Albinism runs in families and for most variants, both parents must be albino.
Jorge told a local newspaper that although they were excited when the doctor told them they were having twins, their excitement remained intact when the parents learned after the babies were born that they were albino. Parents say it’s a blessing in disguise for them.
When Catalina and Virginia were born, they made history by becoming the first set of albino twins in the country.
Their unusual hereditary disease stunned everyone. However, Jorge and his wife thought that their new birth was a blessing. The parents were ecstatic when the doctors told them they were having twins, according to dad Jorge, and their excitement didn’t dampen at all when they learned the babies were albino at birth.
However, the twins present additional safety concerns that need to be addressed. For example, the girls’ increased sensitivity to UV rays, as with others with albinism, requires the Gomez family to pay constant attention to sun protection.
Catalina and Virginia will be four years old this year, and as they get older, they get more and more beautiful.
The girls appeared in outfits designed by a close family friend in December 2021. Hopefully, their story and these pictures will help raise awareness of albinism and show how beautiful albinos can be.
Most importantly, the Gomez family has shown that every child deserves to be loved unconditionally and without prejudice, regardless of genetic predisposition.
They are really cute! Catalina and Virginia’s story convincingly demonstrates that all children, regardless of their genetic makeup, deserve to be loved and valued.
