A service dog comes to the rescue when the owner experiences a seizure at a supermarket

For many people with medical conditions, service dogs can be a life-saving resource. These loyal companions are specially trained to recognize when their owner is in trouble and respond, whether it’s fetching medicine or calling for help.

Now, one video is proof of just how incredible these service animals can be, showing the moment one dog reacts after its owner has a seizure in a grocery store.

Service dogs can be a life-saving tool for many people with health problems. These devoted friends are specially trained to notice when their owner is in need and respond, whether it’s a call for help or medicine.

One video that captures the moment a dog reacts after its owner suffers a seizure in a grocery store is now serving as proof of how amazing these service animals can be.

According to WGHP, North Carolina resident Amber Laudicina, who underwent chemotherapy for a brain tumor in 2010, suffers from unscheduled seizures as a result of the treatment.

Fortunately, she has an 11-month-old service dog, Koda, by her side, whom she has trained to recognize when she is having a seizure.

And one of these cases was documented on film. Amber shopped at a nearby Harris and Teeter store. Amber begins to show signs of a seizure while training her dog in the alley, including minor delays in body language and shaky movements.

Before the owner realized there was a problem, Koda started to smell it and started barking in alarm. Koda stands by Amber’s side to watch over her safety as she collapses to the ground.

Amber appeared to be in a “stunned state”, but Koda sensed something was wrong. Fortunately, a staff member who was familiar with their circumstances heard him barking and realized something was wrong if Koda was barking.

The employee then takes over and calls 911 while Koda watches closely. Although Koda is still learning and his leash has gotten in the way of some of his duties, Amber noted that he has been “doing very well.”

Amber told WGHP, “He saved my life. He saved me from really getting hurt and going to the hospital with a concussion or worse.”

It was his first real emergency, and according to Amber in the video, he “did amazing.” You can train and train for something, but until it actually happens, you won’t know how far you’ve come, she wrote.

According to Amber, the supermarket staff went above and beyond in their response, which she also applauded.

“I don’t usually sit down with the staff or anything like that. They’re often doing nothing but waiting for the EMTs to show up,” Amber stated.

Amber told WXII that the assistant manager “pulled out all the stops.” I’ve never seen anyone take on a problem like she did while I had service dogs and while I was actually sick.

Amber did not require hospitalization when EMS checked on her, according to the source.

Additionally, Amber created a GoFundMe page to solicit donations in recognition of the manager’s life-saving actions.

@koda_sd_in_training TW: Real Time True Seizure Occurs – this shows the amazing staff at my local Harris and Teeter handling this situation amazingly from beginning to end when medics arrived. Koda is still learning and did very well. The leash unfortunately contributed to a lot of his tasking issues and now tells me he needs to b on a traffic lead. You can train and train for this but you dont know how far youve come until it actually happens. I cant predict my episodes so its truly rare for me to catch it on film. Not that I like showing me in this state, I felt it’s important to show why you shouldnt mess w service dogs. He knew something was up and I should have known better to not be out the way ive been feeling. The first time her barked i wasnt 100% he was truly alerting but after, it was clear and I listened. Now I can know to trust his alerts more and more 🙂 home and resting now. #canecorso #canecorsoitaliano #servicedog #servicedogintraining #servicedogsoftikok #canecorsoservicedogintraining #servicesogprospect #servicedogteam #mastiffsoftiktok #dogtraining #puppytraining101 #puppytraining ♬ 10 minutes BGM for light training such as yoga(845880) – kakumaru
