Stories about the afterlife are often written off as myths, but every now and then a specific event solidifies all of people’s insecurities and fears.
The family of three-year-old Camila Roxana Martinez Mendoza was in this situation.
Their lives took a disastrous turn when they had a terrifying encounter that made them question their beliefs.
It all started when Camila got sick one crucial day in August. Her worried mother, Mary Jane Mendoza, decided to take her to the doctor because she was vomiting, had stomach pains, and had a high temperature.
They visited a pediatrician in Villa de Ramos, where they were born, but the doctor discovered that Camila had a dangerous condition that required specialized care.
Determined to give her daughter the best possible care, Mary Jane traveled with Camila to San Luis Potosi in central Mexico.
Upon arrival at Salinas de Hidalgo Basic Community Hospital, Camila was escorted by medical staff. Her lower body was covered with a cool towel while her oxygen saturation was measured with an oximeter.
The doctor recommended paracetamol, thinking it would help Camila’s problems. Her condition had been deteriorating for several hours when her family decided to seek a second opinion.
Camile was prescribed a new medicine and the next doctor told her to eat more fruit. But this strategy was equally unsuccessful. They went to another doctor in a frantic attempt to get advice, and that doctor strongly recommended admission to the hospital.
That evening, at nine or ten, Camila received the care and support she needed from the medical staff before being sent to the hospital in Salinas.
The medical team tried to find Camila’s tiny veins so they could administer oxygen and IV therapy but were unable to.
It took a while for the nurse to successfully implant the IV.
However, after ten minutes it stopped and Camila was given some medicine to help her sleep. Before the grieving mother could do anything but hand him over to the medical team, the baby was taken from her and placed in a separate room.
Mary Jane was devastated when she learned moments later that her beloved daughter had died of dehydration. The family has planned a celebration of Camila’s life for the next day, a time when friends and family will join them in their grief.
Remarkably, Camila’s grandmother noticed that the glass panel of the coffin had been locked during the funeral. She wanted to lift the lid and see her beloved granddaughter again, but her family wouldn’t let her because they thought it was a delusion.
But as she concentrated she saw Camila’s eyelids flutter and to their amazement they found their hearts racing. Camila was there!
The medical team in Salinas got Camila back to the hospital as fast as they could and did everything they could to save her life.
They tried everything they could to change the deplorable course of events, but in vain.
Testing showed that the main reason was cerebral edema, indicating that the problem had become too severe. This was where my child came, sobbed the anguished mother.
My child was happy, got along with everyone, and didn’t pick on anyone in particular, that’s why we are unhappy. Many individuals on the property loved her and gave us support.
While dehydration was the only condition listed on the first death certificate, the second specified cerebral edema and metabolic failure in addition to dehydration.
Camila’s scheduled kindergarten start this week was canceled due to the theft. Enraged, Mary Jane demands justice with all her might, saying, “I want justice done, that’s all.”
She is pleading for a change in the medical team to prevent similar tragedies from happening again, but she has nothing against the doctors who sacrificed so much to save her daughter.
Jose Luis Ruiz, the Attorney General of the State of San Luis Potosi, has opened an investigation into the incident, and Camila’s autopsy is currently underway. In an effort to discover the truth and find solace, the bereaved parents humbly petition the government for justice.
Our deepest condolences go out to the Mendoza family as a result of this incomprehensible loss. I hope that Camila, the child, will rest in eternal rest and that her family will receive the justice and comfort that they rightfully deserve.
After such a devastating loss, we stand in solidarity with the Mendoza family, offering our sincere condolences and unwavering support. The path to justice and closure can be challenging, but it can also be accompanied by compassion, transparency, and accountability. As the investigation progresses and inquiries are made, we ask the authorities to leave no stone unturned in the search for truth and justice for Camila and her grieving family. Let’s also take this moment to reflect on the importance of promoting better medical practices and safeguards to prevent similar tragedies in the future. May Camila’s memory be a beacon of hope and resilience and may her family find peace in the midst of their deep sorrow.
