Renowned actor Eric Braeden, famously known for his role as Victor Newman on the CBS soap opera “The Young and the Restless,” has recently disclosed that he is undergoing treatment for cancer. Despite the diagnosis, Braeden has expressed his determination to overcome the disease.
The 82-year-old actor shared with his followers that he had been experiencing some complications with his prostate while recuperating from knee surgery. Upon visiting a urologist, the medical professional discovered “high-grade” cancer cells during an examination of his bladder. Braeden had initially sought medical attention after realizing that he needed to urinate frequently due to his enlarged prostate, which eventually progressed to the point where he was unable to urinate altogether. The doctor had relieved the condition temporarily by providing a catheter, but Braeden found that the problem resurfaced a few days later and returned to the hospital.
In the midst of his disclosure, Braeden shared a humorous anecdote to ease the tension. He recounted a comical incident where the urologist recognized him from the show while inserting the catheter. To Braeden’s surprise, the doctor informed him that he had learned English by watching “The Young and the Restless” after arriving in the United States from Vietnam. This revelation had a reassuring effect on Braeden, providing him with a moment of levity in an otherwise stressful situation.
After conducting a procedure to insert a camera, the doctor discovered cancer in Braeden’s bladder. He planned to remove cancer while performing a Urolift procedure to alleviate the prostate issues. Despite the unexpected diagnosis, Braeden is determined to confront the challenge head-on, as he is determined to overcome the disease.
Braeden received positive news following his surgery when the doctor informed him that all of the cancer had been removed. However, a week later, Braeden received some concerning news that high-grade cancer cells were found but had not penetrated the muscle wall. As a result, the doctors recommended immunotherapy for the actor.
Despite undergoing six weeks of treatment, Braeden maintained a positive outlook on his health, telling his followers that he is a little weak, but not feeling too bad overall. He also mentioned that he is adjusting his lifestyle to listen to his body more and focus on self-care.
Despite his health challenges, Braeden remains committed to his craft, saying that work has been therapeutic for him. He expressed his love for acting and how it distracts him from his illness. Braeden also expressed gratitude to his friends and fans for their unwavering support throughout his health battles and encouraged them to continue being there for others who are going through similar situations.
Braeden remains determined to overcome his cancer and is confident that he will succeed. He declared his intention to beat the disease and return to top form soon. We hope for a speedy and successful recovery for the beloved actor.
