Actress Samantha Weinstein, known for her role in ‘Carrie,’ passes away at the age of 28.

Actress Samantha Weinstein’s passing on May 14 left a void in the hearts of her loved ones and fans around the world.

Sam died at 11:25 a.m. on May 14 at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto, surrounded by her loved ones. After two and a half years of cancer treatment, she embarked on her next journey, a lifetime of seeing the world, voicing several cartoon characters, creating music, and understanding life more than most people will ever know.

Sam Weinstein was “really the living embodiment of a ray of sunshine,” her father David Weinstein said in a heartfelt remembrance of his daughter, according to Global News Canada. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her would agree that her bright spirit lit up every place she entered.

Samantha changed everyone’s lives, her mother JoJo said. And although it seems theatrical, those who say it mean it very seriously. Her contagious optimism actually changed other people’s lifestyles.

Weinstein began her acting career when she was six years old, voicing several characters in animated television shows.

Alongside Chloe Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore, she played high school student Heather in the 2013 adaptation of Carrie, which became one of her best-known performances.

She was also honored with the ACTRA Award for Outstanding Performance by a 10-Year-Old Girl for her portrayal of Josephine in the 2005 film Big Girl.

Her father also revealed that in the last few weeks of her life, she provided voiceovers for animated series such as Mittens & Pants and Dino Ranch.

On May 2, Weinstein posted her latest Instagram post, which included some adorable pictures from her honeymoon with her husband.

After her surgery in June 2022, she frequently updated fans as she had previously discussed her battle with cancer with her followers.

Weinstein posted pictures of her lying in a hospital bed while informing her fans that her surgery went well. I’m really glad that everything turned out better than everyone expected. Your fears are unfounded, my friends; anxiety can be a stressed-out little bunny with a pocket watch that will lead you deep into a dark hole. Say hello to them, let them wash up after you, and then let them go. #lifewithcancer.”

In April 2021, she posted on social media that she had been diagnosed with cancer.

For the past three months, I have been battling a rare type of ovarian cancer, which may surprise many of you. I will always be indebted to my colleagues at the Princess Margaret Cancer Center for the exceptional level of care I received. I will now be chronicling my journey as I go through three rounds of chemotherapy.

“Representation in the media is important and cancer treatment is no exception in my opinion. Anyone can get cancer, I am living proof of that. I believe that if another cancer patient witnesses what I am going through, maybe it will give them a little bit of courage.

“Although nothing in life is certain, I have a very high chance of a quick recovery after therapy and a long, healthy life. While chemotherapy will be the worst experience I’ve ever had, it will also make me stronger than before. See you on Day 1 #futurecancersurvivor tomorrow.
