Adored Actress Succumbs to “Silent Killer” Disease Shortly After Diagnosis

As news of Kirstie Alley’s death spread, tributes poured in from colleagues, friends, and fans, all expressing their grief and appreciation for her incredible talent and the joy she brought to their lives.

Kirstie Alley, who will forever be remembered for her role in the popular TV series Cheers, has died at the age of 71. Kirstie was only “recently” diagnosed with colon cancer, which her family tragically revealed led to her death after a short battle. Colon cancer is referred to as the “silent killer” because it often takes longer for symptoms to appear than for other malignancies. According to her family’s statement on social media:

She fought bravely while surrounded by her closest family members, leaving us in no doubt about her undying love for life and whatever adventures lie ahead. She was a legendary actress, but an even better mother and grandmother.

Before she died, Kirstie was receiving care at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa Bay, Florida.

Although Alley will always be most recognized for her role as a bar manager on the television show Cheers, she was also known for being an active Scientologist and publicly sparring with other celebrities.

One of the first to pay his respects to the late actress was John Travolta, who was previously romantically linked to Kirstie:

“My relationship with Kirstie has been one of the most unique I’ve ever had. Regards, Kirstie. I’m sure we’ll cross paths again.”

Ted Danson, who played the head bartender on Cheers, claimed he was watching an episode of the show on a plane when Tom Berenger asked for Kirstie’s character. From Dansen

She was both touching and wildly funny as she portrayed a woman about to have a nervous breakdown. She made me laugh when she filmed that scene 30 years ago, and it still makes me laugh today. When I got off the plane I learned that Kirstie had passed away. She always made me laugh and I’m both incredibly sad and appreciative of that. I express my love to her children. They are well aware that their mother had a pure heart. Will be absent.

Kirstie’s legacy as a gifted actress, dedicated philanthropist and loving mother and grandmother will live on in the hearts of those who knew her and the millions who admired her from afar. Her memorable performances and the impact she had on the entertainment industry will forever be honored and celebrated.

As we say goodbye to Kirstie Alley, we also reflect on the importance of raising awareness of colon cancer and the importance of regular screenings for early detection. The “silent killer” can strike unexpectedly, so it’s crucial for everyone to prioritize their health and well-being.

Rest in peace, Kirstie. You will be deeply missed, but your spirit and talent will forever resonate through the timeless characters you brought to life and the joy you brought to the world.

Peace be with you, Kirstie. We’ll miss you!
