After Bethel left for the Bahamas, they stayed in touch, exchanging love letters, poetry, and paintings.
Bethel decided to attend university in London, while Umbers enrolled at a nearby polytechnic so they could be close to each other.
But their relationship ended suddenly.

However, Bethel was able to track Umbers down through Facebook in 2019 and find out the real reason why he left her.

“I had to make the hardest choice of my life and I was alone. I couldn’t explain to her why I just wanted it all over because I had no relatives or friends to turn to. It was disastrous.
Over the years, Bethel searched for Umbers but was unable to find her.
Then he said: “One day I saw a picture of her outside Windsor Castle in a black suit.” After 39 years, “I wasn’t sure if it was her.” I sent her many messages but it took a while for her to see them because she didn’t use Facebook. When the Umbers visited Bethel in the Bahamas in June 2021, the married couple, now 60 and 61, reunited.
She returned home after a few months, but when she returned in October, Bethel got down on one knee and proposed.
Umbers said: “I have never loved anyone as much as I admire Mark.
“I’ve changed a lot,” the spokesman said. Penny Number’s
“I regained my confidence,” she continued. I used to feel bad about myself, but now I’m proud of myself because I understand that he really loved me. It was really hard for me to come to terms with the fact that the man I adored didn’t love me.
He accepted authority a lot more and was less disobedient than I was, so I thought if he informed me of this we would be able to work things out. He wanted to fit in and be successful, and he’s been successful all his life. But in order to achieve this, he had to make certain concessions.
Love knows no color, gender, or any other distinction, even though you’ve probably already read that on this page. It is unfortunate that the parents of these two lovers have separated. However, their relationship won out in the end and showed that it’s never too late to find your true partner.
