The renowned rock group announced on Instagram that all of their upcoming shows, including a September 12 event in Toronto, as well as a September 15 show in Chicago, a September 18 show in Detroit, a September 21 show in Raleigh, and a show in Washington, D.C. Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler announced in an Instagram post that due to severe damage to his vocal cords, doctors have advised him to stop singing for the next 30 days.
The statement begins with, “To all our fans.”
“It breaks my heart to announce that I have been given strict medical orders not to sing for the next 30 days. I damaged my vocal cords during Saturday’s performance which caused further bleeding.”
We will have to move a few events so we can come back and give you the show you deserve.
“All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new dates,” Aerosmith continued. Those who cannot attend will be entitled to compensation. If fans have any issues with refunds, they should contact the place of purchase.
Dates for the Farewell Tour, which will run from September 2 (in Philadelphia) to January 26 (in Montreal), were announced on May 1.
The tour will now end later due to delays. Aerosmith will reportedly resume their tour on Monday, October 11.
Considering their age, it’s great that the band decided to give their devoted followers one last tour. Tyler turned 75 in March, so it’s impossible to know the physical toll a 40-show tour might take on him.
