Florida’s new detention facility, nicknamed “Alligator Alcatraz,” has become the latest flashpoint in partisan politics. What was intended as a routine observational tour by lawmakers quickly devolved into a spectacle of criticism, prompting state officials to push back against what they describe as manufactured outrage.
Kevin Guthrie, Executive Director of Florida’s Division of Emergency Management, defended the facility after Democrats raised concerns over minor details during a weekend visit. Speaking on Jesse Watters Primetime, Guthrie called the political posturing “off the charts,” saying some lawmakers appeared more interested in performing than inspecting.

If you break federal immigration law, especially with violent offenses, you’re not getting a resort stay or gift card. You’re getting a cell,” he stated.
