Ambitious 28-Year-Old Converts Old School Bus into Stunning Mobile Home

Craig Gordinier’s decision to embrace an unconventional home by buying a school bus turned out to be a remarkable life-changing journey.

Craig Gordinier, the man, had a choice to make. The 28-year-old had two options: either he would return to his parents, or he could choose a more unusual residence.

He decided on an unusual house and bought a school bus.

And it ended up being a very fantastic thing.

It all started in early 2020 when a trade arrangement for Craig didn’t work out as planned.

According to Yahoo! News, he says, “After a failed business deal at the very beginning of COVID last year, I ended up at 27 at home on my parent’s couch and started over.”

Craig then began to think about the big picture.

Why wait 40 years to fulfill his ambition to travel the country in an RV when he is 65?

Craig decided that he didn’t want to and that he would start living his goal now.

I started looking at sprinter vans, trailers, tiny homes, and buses until I discovered the perfect bus in South Dakota. He says: “I traveled there and bought a bus.

After a 28-hour drive, Craig drove the 1991 Blue Bird school bus back to Massachusetts.

“And I had this amazing moment when I pulled up and saw the look on my parent’s faces as I was driving this big school bus,” he recalled.

Still, that was the easy part. Now that the bus needed to be made livable, Craig had to start rebuilding it.

He was lucky to have the help of his family and friends.

The bus had to be dismantled into a hollow insulated shell before the personalized components were added.

There are apartment doors and a safety mat at the entrance to the bus. Additionally, Craig raised the living room roof about 20 inches. In addition, the bus has lower storage compartments and a deck for transporting Craig’s motorcycle.

In addition to the adventure and excitement of his lifestyle, Craig’s journey exemplifies the power of family and friendship. The support he received from his loved ones throughout the renovation process and his travels demonstrated the strength of those bonds and how they can enrich life’s journey.

As Craig still roams the country in a school bus, his story reminds us all that life’s greatest rewards are often to embrace the unconventional, step out of your comfort zone and pursue your dreams with unwavering determination.
