A retired engineer has a different perspective on life. He doesn’t even open the sofa to its full width if he doesn’t have visitors because he prefers to sleep on it. He rolls up a four-foot cylinder of PVC sheeting to create a shower. Cans are kept with him for two months.
When he bought the plane, he had no idea how important it was. When Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis needed to transport the body of her second husband Aristotle Onassis to his final resting place in Walk 1975, the plane came in handy.
Campbell figured this out by cross-referencing pictures he had seen online of the registration number of his 727. The same plane Onassis was living in at the time of his death in France was used to transport his ashes to Greece.
The main Greek airline was Olympic Airlines, formerly known as Olympic Airways.
The national airline of Greece T.A.E. was bought by Onassis in July 1956. He changed its name to “Olympic Airways” with the intention of creating an opulent airline that wowed everyone. He wanted to have the most modern airline in the world.
But on September 29, 2009, business came to a complete halt. Instead, at the time of privatization, Olympic Air was created.
Instead of being scrapped or broken up, one of the planes the airline removed is currently in use as a retirement community in Oregon, transporting notables including a visionary engineer.
Inside the plane are two functional toilets, a work area, a toilet, and a makeshift shower. He went so far as to incorporate a small galley and washing machine into the plane for cooking.
This retired engineer has created a stunning home out of one that was slated for demolition.
