Anderson Cooper, Once Doubtful About Parenthood, Now Finds Joy in Being Father to Two Sons

In a remarkable twist of fate, Anderson Cooper, the esteemed CNN anchor, once believed that fatherhood was an unattainable dream. Thinking back to his teenage years, he struggled with the idea that being gay could mean losing the ability to have children. Fast forward four decades and Cooper is not only a proud father, but also an enthusiastic parent to two sons, Wyatt Morgan and the latest addition to his “unusual” family, Sebastian Luke Maisani-Cooper.

Cooper’s first child, Wyatt Morgan, was born in April 2020.

After his birth, Cooper revealed that part of his late mother Gloria Vanderbilt’s family considered using the name Morgan for their child. His son was named Wyatt Emory Cooper in honor of his late father.

Cooper admitted to Ellen DeGeneres on Ellen Tube that he bought numerous parenting books before Wyatt was born, but never read them.

“I never got around to reading any of the parenting books I was given in abundance. You really should read the literature as it comes,” he said. “I’ll just buy the books and keep them with you. You should really read this.”

Despite his doubts about his ability to handle fatherhood, Cooper said he loves “everything” about him. In addition, he received a lot of support, especially from co-parent and ex-husband Benjamin Maisani.

It may seem like an odd situation, but I knew he would be an amazing father, and he is. As co-parents and family, we still adore each other even though we are no longer together.

Recently, the “unusual” family has grown.

In an episode of Anderson Cooper 360, Cooper revealed that Sebastian Luke Maisani-Cooper is the new baby he welcomed into his household.

He also revealed that Maisani is currently in the process of adopting Wyatt, who is 22 months old.

Luke Sebastian Maisani I’m Cooper. He weighed 6.8 pounds at birth and looked happy and healthy. I find his occasional hiccups adorable. Even though all he does is eat, sleep, and probably pee, he already looks like a thoughtful and intelligent little man.
