The Watch What Happens Live host and his lifelong friend, CNN anchor Anderson Cooper, recalled their parenting experiences during a talk about their new book The Daddy Diaries: The Year I Grew Up on Tuesday at 92NY in New York City.

“I’m the only gay parent in Ben’s preschool and the only solo parent, which is incredible, and I’m so grateful for our relationship because Ben sees Wyatt with two dads, and Ben’s other friend, Adrian, has two dads.” ” Cohen told Cooper.

The Bravo personality added, “[Ben] has been saying lately, ‘I want another dad, I want another dad.'” And I think it’s wonderful that he’s aware that he would be a father.

What else can I say other than my son has an excellent gaydar? mocked Cohen, 54, father of 4-year-old Ben and 12-month-old Lucy.

He said that being a single father puts “extra pressure on him to be everything, and you know you can’t always do [that]”.

Cohen said his mother, Evelyn, never thought her son would have children.

“Whenever I mentioned having children, my mother remarked, ‘You’ll never do that, you’ll never do that. She simply never imagined that I would have the desire (motivation) to do it.

The discussion shed light on Cohen’s experiences as a gay single parent and the unique dynamics he navigates in his son’s preschool.
