The father of the tragically murdered schoolgirl, April Jones, has sadly passed away without ever being able to locate her remains.

April disappeared on October 1, 2012, while playing outside with a friend. Her parents last saw her riding a pink bike at 7 p.m. At 7:29 p.m., when April couldn’t be found, her mother Coral called 999 to report her missing. 

The case was promptly classified as a critical incident, prompting the involvement of numerous officers and a large number of volunteers who initiated a comprehensive search. 

Mark Bridger was apprehended the day after April’s disappearance. Witnesses had provided a description of a man who resembled the suspect, who was seen conversing with April and subsequently picking her up in a car.

After more than six months, the police decided to end the search. Bridger was accused of child abduction, murder, and attempting to manipulate the legal system after DNA evidence from his residence connected him to April’s demise. 

He was additionally charged with the illegal hiding and getting rid of a corpse when he appeared before magistrates on October 8th. 

On January 14, 2013, Bridger pleaded not guilty to murder but acknowledged that he was likely responsible for April’s death. 

During the trial, he asserted that he had a s*xual encounter with her in April, but he couldn’t remember the details due to excessive alcohol consumption.
