The fire quickly consumed the building and caused the roof to collapse and trigger a deadly blow. Among the victims was the main singer of the band Andrei Gorgieski and four other members of the band. The news suggests that Gorgieski managed to leave the club, but returned in a bold attempt to help others escape.
According to Interior Minister Panch Toshkovski, the fire was caused by the pyrotechnic effects used during the performance. “The sparks lit the ceiling, which was made of highly flammable material, allowing the fire to spread rapidly throughout the night club and produce strong smoke,” he explained at the press briefing.
Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski described this event as “irreparable loss” and issued a sincere request for national unity and compassion. “At these moments of deep grief, our hearts are broken by this immense tragedy. I call on all institutions – emergency services, police and local authorities – to quickly act in the support of injured and mourning families,” he wrote on Facebook.
