At about 3:50 am, local time, a violent storm, went through an area, with winds so powerful that they sent furniture flying along the coast. According to Sky News, it is assumed that the water impact – a rare and destructive type of marine tornado – hit a yacht, leading to a sudden sinking.
Of the 22 passengers and crew members on board, 15 were saved and rescued to safety in the small fishing village of Porticello. However, seven people- including Mika Lynch, his eighteen-year-old daughter Hannah, international chairman Morgan Stanley Jonathan Bloomer and his wife Judy, New York Lawyer Christopher Morvillo and his wife Ned, and CanadianAntiguann chef Renaldo Thomas- lost their lives.
Hannah’s body was the last one found, renewed five days later after an exhausting search operation.
At the beginning of the week, divers discovered the bodies of five victims and left Hannah as the only missing person. On Friday, its remains were finally placed, which brought the desperate search to a heartbreaking end.
Hannah’s mother, Angela Bacares, was among the survivors when he managed to escape on a lifeboat before Bayesian was fully immersed.
