From the moment they first met, Sadie and Jarvis Sampson wanted to be parents.

“Ovulation tests, prenatal vitamins, cycle tracking apps, and fertility monitors,” said the Houston mom.
“We even tried asking friends, relatives, and complete strangers for unsolicited advice. We prayed and tried and waited 14 months. Month after month. Pregnancy test after negative test. It looked like we were going to need help getting pregnant. Even he did it.” when it comes to discussing it with doctors.
Despite numerous medical appointments, the couple received little help. Everyone suggested that Sadie lose a few pounds before trying to get pregnant again. On their advice, she underwent a gastric bypass and lost twenty-eight kilos.
It seemed like a fantastic start, especially after her obstetrician urged her to hold on as her chances of conceiving increased.
“She told me that if I wasn’t pregnant in six months, she would send me to a fertility specialist because she couldn’t prescribe fertility drugs,” Sadie said. “I was ecstatic.
We finally got something other than rejection!
We were ecstatic when we got the “not now”.
According to Sadie, “I always felt like I was born to be a mother,” “I wasn’t pregnant even after my surgeon spent so much time warning me about being fertile after surgery. That’s why we gave up.” We realized that we were exclusively destined to be godmothers to our goddaughters and aunts and uncles to our nieces.
Then out of the blue, a friend called them and asked if they would be interested in babysitting a couple she knew. The idea of ​​helping a child in need pleased both Sadie and Jarvis, but they also worried that they would become too attached to the child. Nevertheless, they agreed to foster care.
However, the case worker who was working on the case then broke some amazing news that no one expected. She called the Sampsons and explained, “The birth mom has decided she’d like you to adopt the baby instead.”
Sadie recalls the moment she found out she was going to be a mother: “Damn!!” she exclaimed aloud.
After considering the prospect of raising a child, we suddenly realized that we were parents. Still in shock, I listened to the case worker as she spoke. After hanging up, I dialed my husband! “Child!” They want to adopt a child from us! I screamed, “They want us to be parents.” He remarked, “I assumed they wanted us to grow him.” “No!” I said, “They want us to be his parents.”
The mother applied for a separate adoption and was ready to sign the papers in the following days, so they didn’t even have time to prepare for what was going to happen.
At 33 weeks, the baby was born prematurely and was still in the hospital.
“He literally fit in one of my husband’s hands,” Sadie told Love What Matters. “He was so tiny, wrapped in a white blanket with pink and blue stripes.
“Because he was premature, he wasn’t able to eat on his own, so he had an NG tube coming out of his nose,” she continued. But my god, he was adorable.
Their loved ones urged them to create a registry after posting the happy news on social media. The new parents were quickly inundated with gifts for their lucky baby.
In October 2020, the amazing Ezra Lee joined the Sampson family. The T-shirts everyone wore on adoption day read, “Families don’t have to match.”
The wonderful thing about Sadie and Jarvis is that there is more to their story than this. Thanks to embryo donation, they welcomed twins Journee and Destinee in 2021.
This makes the family of five complete. Like Ezra Lee, both of their daughters are white, which adds to the beauty of their family.
