My Husband Woke Me at 4:40 A.M. to Serve His Mother. Three Days After I Left, the Police Called About My House.
PART 1
My husband ripped the blanket off me at four forty in the morning and ordered me to get downstairs to make oatmeal for his mother.
When I refused, he grabbed my wrist hard enough to make me cry out, right in front of Brenda.
She did not stop him at all.
She just smiled and said, “Maybe now she will remember who the man of this house is.”
That was the exact moment when I knew I had to leave immediately.
I knew I could not wait until tomorrow, nor could I stay after another meaningless apology.
I had to get out right now.
Gavin had hit me before in the past.
The first time was a sharp slap after a heated argument in our living room.
He cried right afterward, bought expensive flowers, and promised me that it would never happen again.
The second time, he shoved me hard against the kitchen counter because he claimed I had embarrassed him in front of his friends.
After that incident came the violent grabbing, the constant spoken threats, and the deep holes punched into the drywall just inches from my head.
Every single time it happened, Brenda always found a subtle way to blame me for his behavior.
“You know how his temper is,” she would tell me with a dismissive sigh.
“You need to stop provoking him all the time.”
So over the years, I simply learned to stay quiet and keep my head down.
I managed to endure it all until that specific morning when everything changed.
