“Christopher!” Martha screamed into the mic.

“Do not trust Valerie!” Christopher managed to gasp out.

“Do not trust anyone from the firm!”

The phone line went completely dead.

For several long seconds, nobody in the cemetery made a sound.

Martha stood motionless beside the open grave, holding the quiet phone to her ear.

Her son was alive and trapped somewhere in the city, while her missing husband was lying inside the mahogany casket in front of her, and her daughter-in-law had known the truth all along.

Valerie turned around and attempted to run toward the gate.
