A Nurse Mentioned the Woman Visiting My Dying Husband—Then She Came to My Door With a Letter About a Five-Year-Old Boy

“No,” she said.

“But we can help you find the appropriate person.”

Callahan again.

The woman had information about Simon’s childhood and had helped connect parts of the family history.

Contact could be arranged without asking Denise to disclose records outside her role.

I called Nora from a quiet place after the visit.

“Mrs. Callahan knows?”
