A Promise at the Grave
He told me he would make sure you lost your job at the library.
He told me he would make sure you lost the house.
He told me he would tie me up in court with his armies of lawyers until I was completely bankrupt, until I had nothing left, until I was ruined.
He sat there behind his big desk in his locked office and he calmly, quietly explained all the ways he could take apart our lives if I did not disappear and stay disappeared.
