“Commissioner Miller’s office called me twice before seven.

The third time, I let it ring.”

“Then we don’t take it to Miller.”

“We’re not taking it to anybody in this building.” He took his coat off the hook.

“There’s a viewing room on two with a screen that works.”

The room had four chairs, a table with a short leg, and a monitor on a rolling cart.

Hale shut the blinds and plugged in the drive.

“Two cameras,” he said.
