“How much do you have?”

“Everything.”

The cashier looked toward the line forming behind her.

Someone sighed.

A man checked his watch.

Another woman whispered something to her friend.

Ivy hugged the formula tighter.

“My baby brothers haven’t eaten since this morning.”

That changed the cashier’s expression.
