The 2020s Genomic Work and What It Has Added

The years since the 2015 Population Y paper and the 2018 ancient South American genome studies have seen significant additional work on Native American population history, and the resulting picture has become both richer and more complex.

Studies published in the early 2020s have dramatically expanded the number of ancient Native American genomes available for analysis, including new material from North America, Central America, and South America.

The expanded dataset has allowed researchers to characterize the genetic history of the Americas at a level of detail that was previously impossible.
