They took four of her long bones and worked them, sharpening them into pointed implements.

They used at least one of the modified bones as a tool for some purpose that the archaeological record doesn’t reveal.

And then they reassembled her — placing the modified bones back in their correct positions in the layout of her skeleton — and placed her in a cairn of stones near the lake, with the young man who had been related to her.

Whatever this sequence of actions meant to the people who performed it, it was not careless or indifferent.
