I looked at the water in my cup, which did not move.

“Where was she?” I asked.

“In a ravine two miles south of the state line,” Sloan said.

“She was covered with a gray tarp from your brother’s truck bed.”

“Did they find the phone there too?” I asked.

“Her phone was in the glove compartment of Caleb’s vehicle,” Sloan said.

“Arthur knew about the phone before he came to your apartment on Saturday.”

“My mother knew too,” I said.
