“The keys were not in the ignition,” Harris said.

“But we found her leather handbag on the floorboard of the passenger side.”

“Did she leave her phone?” I asked.

“No,” Harris said, his voice flat and even.

“The phone was missing, but her wallet was still inside the bag, containing eighty-four dollars in cash.”

I looked at the red circle on the map, my eyes following the thin blue line of the Olentangy River.

“We found deep tire impressions in the mud behind her rear bumper,” Harris said.
