I sat at the kitchen table and opened the folder I had kept in the bottom drawer of my desk for three weeks.

Inside were copies of the first forged authorization, the vendor file I should never have had to discover, and a single photograph of my mother on the day she placed the bracelet on her own wrist and signed the trust documents.
