A foreman unfolded blueprints across a worktable. Two engineers listened while Matthew pointed to a support column. A crane operator waited for his signal before moving a load.
No one treated him like an ordinary worker.
An older foreman named Henry walked toward Rebecca while Matthew climbed down into the foundation pit. “He forget his coffee again?” Henry asked.
“Yes.”
“Man can calculate load distribution across forty floors, but he can’t remember a metal flask.”
Rebecca looked at him. “He calculates load distribution?”
