Chapter 6 — The Investigation

Two days later, Samuel appeared outside Lucy’s school, leaning against a black sedan as Rebecca and Lucy approached. “Rebecca.”

She stopped. “How did you find me?”

“You aren’t hiding.”

Lucy moved closer to Rebecca’s side. Samuel smiled at the child. “Hello.” Lucy said nothing.

“What do you want?” Rebecca asked.

“To keep you from making a mistake.”
