Chapter 5 — Geneva

I met Zachary Prescott four years ago, at the World Economic Forum in Geneva, during a keynote address so tedious that the whole hall had gone glassy-eyed.

Zachary was not merely wealthy.

He was the defining technology magnate of our generation — the man who had built Prescott Global Enterprises out of a Stanford dorm room into a conglomerate that reached into advanced technology, media, and private capital.

He was brilliant, and genuinely ruthless in a boardroom, and, I would learn, fiercely gentle with the very small number of people he decided to love.
