Caroline Brought Her Three Children to a Newport Hotel After an Invitation Came in the Mail
Caroline wrapped her worn yellow tape measure in a piece of plain newsprint and placed it in a small wooden tool chest.
She picked up her heavy metal drafting lamp and rested it carefully on top of the folded linen smocks inside the second crate.
“I can pay sixty dollars a month for the corner space,” Caroline said, carrying the box toward the open doorway.
“Save your cash for your basic expenses,” Paige said, setting the heavy tape dispenser on top of a pile of bound sketchpads.
“We need to get your drafting table and lamps set up before the evening light fades.”
