“Come get your worthless daughter and take her back,” my mother-in-law shouted my father as I lay broken at the bottom of the stairs after my husband shoved me down. “Your family will answer for it if she has even a scratch,” was the sole warning Dad offered her. They had no notion who my father really was, so they made fun of him.
Dad looked at the lawyer.
Make sure that check covers all the associated corporate entities as well’, Dad said.
“The search is already on,” Gabriel confirmed.
I looked anxiously at Gabriel.
“Do you have clearance to pull those records so fast?”
“Yes we can, with your signed authorisation form” Gabriel answered and pulled out a short document.
I took the pen in a trembling hand and signed my name at the bottom, wincing as the motion strained my cracked ribs.
Gabriel picked up the signed release and his cell phone buzzed on the table.
