“Come get your worthless daughter and take her back,” my mother-in-law shouted my father as I lay broken at the bottom of the stairs after my husband shoved me down. “Your family will answer for it if she has even a scratch,” was the sole warning Dad offered her. They had no notion who my father really was, so they made fun of him.
“I was trying to protect you,” Dad said.
Whatever became of those legal forms?“Then I asked.
‘You brought them back to your husband and told the insurance company to send their own papers direct,’ Dad recalled.
I glanced at Gabriel.
“That forged power of attorney document found in their corporate records?”
‘We haven’t yet seen that particular document,’ said Gabriel cautiously.
Dad looked me right in the eyes.
“But another thing came up during my investigations.”
