Conquest Man lived through the events the Bayeux Tapestry commemorates.

He was alive in 1066 when Harold and William fought at Hastings.

He was alive in the years of consolidation that followed, when William’s rule extended over England and the redistribution of land and power proceeded.

He was buried around 1079, a decade and a half after the battle that changed the world he lived in.

But he is not in the Bayeux Tapestry.

He was never going to be in the Bayeux Tapestry.
