Chapter 4 — An Opportunist
Across town, Beatrice received the feed on her phone. “I have them on camera,” the man reported.
“Do not approach,” she said coldly. “First we turn that girl into a threat. Not a victim.”
Julian, across from her in the back of the town car, asked, “Turn who into a threat?”
“An opportunist,” Beatrice said.
Julian held up his own tablet. On the screen was a record of an old wire transfer from the Sterling Group to an unlisted medical consulting firm, dated exactly two weeks after Valerie’s accident, authorized by Beatrice.
“Was this also to ‘protect’ Alexander?” he asked.
