Don’t Let Your Mother Answer for You

I said, “Sorry — called when, mate?”

“When I was little.

You said your mom told you a lie.

But how come you never called Mom.

For seven years.

You could have called her.”

And I want to record my first reaction honestly, because it was not noble.

My first reaction was relief that I had a good answer.
