“No.”
“Good. Meet me Monday. Save every message, and don’t argue about finances over text.”
“What about the company?”
“Nothing today. Leave the accounts alone. I’ll prepare notices requiring both marital and business assets to be preserved.”
My phone kept buzzing while we talked. By noon, I had fifty-eight missed calls. Eleanor left a six-minute voicemail accusing me of abandoning the family on Thanksgiving — the turkey undercooked, the mashed potatoes cold, Robert’s guest storming out after an argument.
