I opened the binder, my fingers slipping on the plastic cover.

The first dozen pages were standard plumbing and electrical specifications, filled with numbers and technical terms that made no sense to me.

But near the back of the binder, tucked behind a yellow divider, was a large, folded blueprint of Tyler’s backyard layout.

I unfolded it carefully, my eyes searching for the property lines.

The drawing showed his house, his proposed concrete pool, and the cedar fence.
