“Beautiful evening, isn’t it?” he said as I approached.

“Look, I went ahead and drew up the paperwork for the sod crew so we can get them scheduled.”

He slid a single white sheet of paper from beneath the clip and held it out to me, along with a heavy black pen.

“What is this?” I asked, taking the paper but leaving the pen in his hand.

“Just a standard helper agreement,” Tyler said, his voice smooth and reassuring.

“We just want to be good neighbors and settle this quietly.”
