PART 8: The Family Dinner

Malcolm called Nathaniel the next evening and invited him to dinner at the old family house in Greenwich.

Nathaniel asked if I would come.

My first instinct was to refuse.

I remembered too many meals at that table when my ideas were treated as charming hobbies and the men discussed property as if no one else existed.

But I wanted to hear Malcolm explain the letter.

Simone said I could go as a guest, not as a negotiator, and that I should leave if the discussion became coercive.
