I nearly argued. Then Mia dropped onto the sleeping bag and bounced. “I like it.”
My mother smiled as if the matter had been settled by the easiest person in the room. I crouched beside my daughter. “Call tonight.”
“I promise.”
“If you need anything, Grandma has my number.”
“I have your number.” She tapped her purple watch. We had programmed both of our phones into it.
My mother’s lips tightened slightly. “She won’t need emergency equipment, Paula.”
