“They went to your house?”

“They brought flowers and raised their voices.”

“Are you all right?”

“I’m eighty-one, not glass.”

“Why leave the house to me?” She was quiet. “Because I cannot leave shelter to people who thought it was an acceptable place to abandon a child.”
