“Great-Grandma would’ve said that shorter.” I smiled. “She would have said, ‘Keep the truth. Lose the nonsense.'”
“That sounds like her.”
At home, Mia went upstairs. A few minutes later, I noticed the hallway light was still on. For years I had promised myself I would never turn it off without asking.
I walked toward her doorway. “Do you want the hall light tonight?”
She looked up from her homework. “I forgot it.”
I reached for the switch, then stopped. “Off?”
