Everyone Belongs to Someone
I stepped inside.
The room was chaos. A lamp shattered on the carpet, the nightlight flickering, the children awake now and crying, clinging to each other at the head of the bed.
Anna stood between them and Elias with a broken vase in her hand.
Elias had blood on his cheek. He was still smiling. “Come here, Anna. Enough drama.”
“Get out,” she said. Her voice shook, but she did not move.
He sighed like a tired husband embarrassed by a public scene. “You see what you’ve done? You dragged strangers into this. You made yourself look insane.”
